Weekly Watch Focus: Drought — Pray for Rain

FRIDAY, June 24, 2011. Key regions of the United States are going through severe drought conditions. Parts of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and other areas in the Southwest are listed as (D4) excessive drought conditions, and all across this region lack of rain is seriously affecting agriculture and livestock, and making wildfire conditions extremely dangerous. Pray for the drought to be broken and for the rain to come and heal the land.

At the same time, this shows us that we desperately need the Rain of the Holy Spirit for our entire nation. Let’s cry out for the Lord to pour out His Spirit, referred to in Joel as the former and latter rain, that will release His blessing and restoration on our nation.

Also, over 40,000 residents in Minot, ND, have been evacuated as waters rise to historic levels in their town. Pray for the Lord’s mercy to protect and limit the devastation of this town as the flood waters crest this week.

Joel 2:23-25, "Be glad, O children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God, for He has given the early rain for your vindication; He has poured down for you abundant rain, the early and the latter rain, as before. The threshing floors shall be full of grain; the vats shall overflow with wine and oil. I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten.”

Joel 2:28-29, "And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, and your young men shall see visions. Even on the male and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit.”

Is. 43:2, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.”
