Weekly Watch Focus: God Shield Our Armed Forces

FRIDAY, May 17, 2019—Tension is rising in the Middle East. Intelligence reports show Iran-backed militias positioning rockets near U.S. forces. Saudi Arabia has accused Iran of launching drone attacks on their oil installations. In response, the U.S. has deployed an aircraft carrier and bombers into the region along with moving a Patriot Missile defense system to the region. On Wednesday, the U.S. ordered all nonessential government employees posted to Iraq to leave the country.

Pray that God’s council and leadership will be with President Trump and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Bind the activities of terrorists and Iranian agents in the region. Bind the strongman of violence and blood feud. Pray for safety for our Armed Forces, and plead the blood of Jesus over them and their families in this strategic hour.

Part 2: Give Thanks for Breakthrough Abortion Law

On Wednesday, May 15th, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed into law a near-total ban on abortions. On Thursday, Missouri followed suit passing a “heartbeat” bill that bans abortions after six weeks. Other states are predicted to follow soon. Thank God for this surge of laws aimed at overturning the travesty of the Supreme Court’s Roe v Wade decision in 9173. Pray that the Lord would have mercy on our nation for the millions of innocents who have lost their lives to abortion and give us a turnaround to protect the lives of the unborn. Thank God for the recent conservative appointments to the Supreme Court. Continue to lift up our courts, asking God to give us godly judges to rule over our land with justice and protect our unborn children. 

Psalm 91:1-5, “He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler. You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day.”

Ephesians 6:12 (AMP) “For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood (contending only with physical opponents), but against the despotisms, against the powers, against (the master spirits who are) the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.”

Psalm 27:2-5, “When the wicked came against me . . . they stumbled and fell . . . For in the time of trouble He shall hide me in His pavilion; in the secret place of His tabernacle He shall hide me; He shall set me high upon a rock”

Psalm 121:8, “The LORD shall preserve your going out and your coming in From this time forth, and even forevermore.”  

Psalm 139: 13,15-16, "For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb. My frame was not hidden from You, when I was made in secret. Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written..."

Isaiah 1:26, “I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning. Afterward you shall be called the city of righteousness, the faithful city.”
