Watch Focus - Pentecost and Memorial Day

This weekend marks the beginning of the Feast of Pentecost (Shavuot) on the Hebrew calendar. As Jews and Christians celebrate this feast, we rejoice in the fulfillment of Shavuot when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the Day of Pentecost. We pray that the same mighty wind that swept through Jerusalem would come and sweep across our nation and the nations of the world. May the “whole earth be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea” (Habakkuk 2:14). Pray for a fresh Pentecostal revival with signs, wonders, and miracles that will impact every person in the world. With one voice we cry out, “Welcome, precious Holy Spirit! In Your mercy, empower us so we can proclaim the glory of the risen savior, Jesus Christ, to every soul on earth.” We also pray for a special blessing on Israel and the Jewish people who welcomed and stewarded the Word of God from Mt Sinai.

Acts 2:1-4, “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.”

Acts 2:17-18, “And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, that I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.and on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; and they shall prophesy.”

Leviticus 23:15-16, “‘And you shall count for yourselves from the day after the Sabbath, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave offering: seven Sabbaths shall be completed. Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord.”

Zechariah 10:1, “Ask rain from the LORD in the season of the spring rain, from the LORD who makes the storm clouds, and He will give them showers of rain, to everyone the vegetation in the field.”

Memorial Day

This is also Memorial Day weekend, and we set aside time to honor the U.S. men and women who have lost their lives serving their country. The Americans who gave their lives for our freedoms we especially honor this week. We honor the many allied soldiers who fought and died by their sides. We salute them all. Let us continue to cover in prayer all of our armed forces presently serving. May the Lord of Hosts cover and protect those in harm’s way around the world as they stand in the gap for freedom. May they feel our love and support; may their families be blessed with provision and strength. We thank them and their loved ones for their sacrifice.

John 15:13, “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”

Psalm 46:1, “God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.”

Psalm 20, “May the Lord answer you in the day of trouble; may the name of the God of Jacob defend you; may He send you help from the sanctuary, and strengthen you out of Zion; may He remember all your offerings, and accept your burnt sacrifice. Selah. May He grant you according to your heart’s desire, and fulfill all your purpose. We will rejoice in your salvation, and in the name of our God we will set up our banners! May the Lord fulfill all your petitions. Now I know that the Lord saves His anointed; He will answer him from His holy heaven with the saving strength of His right hand. Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; but we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen; but we have risen and stand upright. Save, Lord! May the King answer us when we call.”
